About 6 months ago, I was accepted into the BlogHer publishing family (you may remember the post proudly announcing it). I’ve been blogging close to two years, but didn’t feel validated until I got that beautiful teal BlogHer badge in my sites side bar. My goal was to have a reputable and superior publishing network supporting my ventures and to join a group of bloggers that were encouraging and knowledgeable.
This year BlogHer celebrates it’s 10th anniversary with their annual conference in San Jose, California from July 24th to July26th. Unfortunately this year I will be unable to attend, but I have read up on all the amazing events taking place. For instance, keynote speakers include Arianna Huffington (The Huffington Post) and Kerry Washington (star of Scandal, activist and mom-to-be). The event is designed to enhance your blogging career with break out meetings, panel discussions by experts in the field, networking opportunities and of course a party here and there. I can only imagine the prospects and sense of camaraderie that will encompass the conference and the entire weekend. Many of your blogging peers will be attending and it’s a great chance to reconnect with colleagues and friends.
As a food blogger, I feel proud to be a part of the BlogHer food network specifically. I have benefitted in so many ways from my relationships with the team and other. Although I’m a member of the publishing network, it feels more like being a part of a close-knit community. Not only do the BlogHer staff answer any question I have with a smile, but other members contribute interesting and informative articles to the website, which I try and catch up on every night (usually by the light of my iPad, hours after my husband has fallen asleep).
I look forward to all of the future opportunities and conferences with BlogHer, while building my blog and transitioning into new stages of life. If you have the chance to attend this year’s conference in San Jose, you won’t regret it and hopefully I will see you there in years to come; 10 years is only the beginning for this spectacular organization!
